Freehand crochet and knit shawl with mohair and kid silk yarn

This freehand crochet shawl with mohair and kid silk yarn held together is one of my favorite designs and I hate that I didn't write it down. So this shawl is 100% unique, has a halo effect due to the fluff of the yarn, and since it's a blend of 3 colors it has a really soft color melt to it. I crocheted the main section of the shawl, and I knit the tie around the top to make it a little cleaner and more secure.

I recommend hand washing this in cool water with a no-rinse clothing wash, and then hang to dry. The last time I put a shawl like this with this yarn into the washer it shrank to fit my stuffed elephant. So, wash in a machine at your own risk.

My hand wash tips: I recommend not messing with it too much, fill the wash bin/sink/tub space with a splash of zero wash wool wash (I really like Soak in Celebration) and water at a temperature a small newborn baby could safely stick their hand into. Submerge the fabric fully, letting it soak for 10-15 minutes, drain and gently ring out the fabric. Either use a salad spinner to remove excess water, or lay flat in a towel and roll it up, then step on the towel to squish out water, unroll and hang to dry over shower curtain or on a (non-metal/rusting) hanger.
