What I am excited for (a series?)

Hi pals! I wanted to start writing about the things that bring me joy right now in my “Sam Bartley Designs” adventure I am currently on. They might not be long, or even valuable to anyone, but I want to do it so I am.

First up, it’s these:

These are my favorite idea and current obsession, my “i-spy” axes, daggers, and swords.

I have been a fan of renaissance festivals and that era of time from the first day of my 3rd grade class where we learned about Knights. I’ve been to a few faires of my own, mostly in middle school and high school on field trips, but it’s been a dream of mine to create for this space for a long time.

So one day, while dilly dallying around in my craft supplies, I saw I had a big box of random trinkets and charms I was using for decorating my phone case and my nails, and I had a giant wooden sword sitting in the corner of the room…. I also had a really really obnoxious amount of super glue (thank you ADHD). So with all of that being said, I took a nail file, sanded down the tip of the sword so it was smooth and clean of dust, then started glueing things on to it.

Working on one of the daggers <3

From there it really just kind of took off. I put a variety of bigger trinkets and charms on the sword and then filled in the space left with gems and rhinestones.

The sword still isn’t finished, but that’s because I had a few friends tell me “Hey, you should make these and sell them”, which is the code you use to awaken my sleeper agent, and one quick order of wooden daggers, axes, and short swords later I am now on my second drop of them (coming to my shop in November!)

Each weapon is unique, because I do not have the brain power to copy my chaos on repeat, but I do offer custom orders (within reason), so if you want one to match your next ren faire outfit, let me know!

They are also 100% for decoration ONLY. Don’t hit people with them, unless you buy two and the person agrees to engage in hand-to-hand combat. But also don’t do that because the gems and charms will fall off if you rub it a ton or whack things with it. Yes, you can glue back on more, but then it’s not the same and that’s why you bought it in the first place, right? Plus it’s pretty. Just be nice to it, okay?

But that’s my “what I am excited for” for this week! Idk how often I will do these, but when something makes me excited for my business, I will share it <3 Little things are still powerful <3

Xx,

Sam
